Winter Race Series (open to beginners)
Bring a Volunteer and your next race is free!
First timer? What is it like? During the safety clinic you will be shown basic shooting technique in the prone position (lying down). The rifles always stay on the shooting mat during the race and most importantly - pointed at the targets. Each of the magazines holds 5 rounds (bullets). You will be shown how to insert the magazine and remove the magazine. Depending upon entrants, it is usually a mass start. The race starts with a skiing loop about 2 k which ends at the shooting range. You pick a shooting point with a rifle on it and take your 5 shots at the 5 targets after which you open the rifle bolt, lay the rifle down and head out on a second trip around the skiing loop. For every missed target, you will have to detour just after the range and ski a 150 meter penalty loop. Same shooting procedure when you get back to the range and then one final loop and finish in front of the timing building. The clock keeps running during the shooting and the penalty loops. Results are posted on the web site sometime that evening. Awards at the last race along with a pie raffle. Reach out with any questions.
