A
6 race winter (freestyle technique) biathlon series will be held on
Thursday evenings throughout January and February. Race dates are
January 19 (canceled), 26, February 2, 9, 16, 23. These races are open to beginners as well as experienced biathletes. Race distance is
usually 5 to 7 kilometers. Safety clinic, instruction
and rifles are available for novices. Awards are given at the end of the
series. Registration 5:00 to 5:30 PM, zero 5:30 to 6:00 PM, Race Start
at 6:15 PM. Cost is $10 per race ($5 for EABC members) or $50 for the
series ($25 for EABC members). IMPORTANT - If you are sport class
(novice) you will have to complete a safety clinic before you can race. If you completed this class during the summer that will satisfy this
requirement. These clinics will take about 45 minutes and will be
offered from 5:30 to 6:15pm on Tuesdays leading up to the race series.
We will also offer a clinic on some Thursday race nights at 5:00pm. If
you are late for the race night clinic you will not get to race. At the
end of the safety clinic you will be given a Safety Card to show when
you come to a race which will allow you to enter. The safety clinic and
card are good for one year. There is no charge for the safety clinic and
you will get to do some shooting. Clinics will be offered on January 3,
5, 10, 12 (Thursday 5:00p.m.), 19 (Thursday 5:00p.m.), and February 9 (Thursday 5:00p.m.).
