It was a great night for racing with temps in the mid 20's, plenty of snow, and a new race format (3 shootings). We had our biggest field in quite some time with 40 starters.
On the men's side, we had a good battle between youth and experience as Jesse Downs and Bjorn Westervelt went back and forth throughout the race. Jesse came out on top thanks to consistent (111) and very fast shooting. Bjorn's 2 misses in standing cost him the win as he finished less than 20 seconds behind. TK Despres (sport category) also deserves a mention as he shot clean and finished between Jesse and Bjorn.
On the women's side, Kat Howe blew away the competition proving that coaches can still be fast. She finished 1 minute clear of her closest competitor, Lea Davison. Speaking of the Davison's, the Lea vs Sabra race was effectively over after the first shooting as Sabra missed them all. Lea has come out on top 3 weeks in a row. Can Sabra turn the tide in the second half of the season? Come back next week to find out...
